A 22-year-old man who was shot in the abdomen after breaking into a Missoula house is now jailed on $100,000 bail.
Dillon Franklin of Arkansas appeared before acting Justice of the Peace Mike Frellick on Monday. He spent nearly a week in the hospital after the Sept. 15 break-in and shooting.
Court records say the 77-year-old homeowner told police he heard a window break and grabbed a gun. He said he warned the intruder three times that he had a gun and would shoot, but the intruder continued into the house.
Charging documents say Franklin told paramedics he was high on methamphetamine and heroin. He told detectives he probably thought the house belonged to a friend with whom he had been staying.
Franklin is charged with felony burglary and three misdemeanors.
