Oregon man with plague still critical
A Prineville man infected with a plague infection remains in critical condition at a hospital in Bend.
KTVZ reports family members decided to release his name -- Paul Gaylord.
He was bitten by a cat earlier this month when he tried to take a mouse out of its mouth.
Gaylord's niece Andrea Gibb says his wife of 24 years, Debbie Gaylord, and other family members are staying at his bedside at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend.
The illness is the fifth case of plague in Oregon since 1995. There are about seven human plague cases in the United States each year.
