A 21-year-old Missoula man has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and causing a crash that killed two of his friends and injured a third.
Justin Leshai Barber pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence and one count of vehicular assault for the March 4 rollover crash that killed 20-year-old Jason McDonald of Frenchtown and 18-year-old Joshua Gruebele of Missoula. Another man, 22-year-old Nic Von Platz, was seriously injured in the crash in Missoula's south hills.
The plea agreement calls for a 50-year prison sentence with 40 suspended, but attorney Milt Datsopoulos said he'll seek a more lenient sentence, such as five years with the Department of Corrections.
District Judge Ed McLean scheduled sentencing for Feb. 1.
Barber has been jailed on $500,000 bail since his arrest.
