Two women accused of staging a robbery at an adult bookstore in Billings are charged with felony theft and making a false report to law enforcement.
The Billings Gazette reports 20-year-old Kayla Kayline Brist and 42-year-old Dawna Kailine Kranzler appeared before Justice of the Peace Larry Herman on Tuesday.
Charging documents allege Kranzler reported the robbery on June 1 and officers arrived to find Brist bound to a chair. She said a man came in with a gun and took cash, two laptops and other items.
Officers became suspicious of Brist's description of how the man carried the items from the store.
Prosecutors say the women eventually acknowledged staging the robbery and spending about $3,800 in cash taken from the business. The store owner reported a loss of nearly $7,400.
