A Great Falls teen charged with raping an 11-year-old girl as she was walking home from school last November has reached a plea agreement that calls for a 30-year prison sentence.
The Great Falls Tribune reports court records filed Wednesday indicate the boy, who was 15 at the time of the assault, has agreed to enter an Alford plea to sexual intercourse without consent. In exchange, prosecutors will recommend a 60-year prison sentence with 30 suspended.
Under an Alford plea, a person denies guilt but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to gain a conviction.
The girl told police that a boy grabbed her hat and ran into an alley, getting her to chase him. Police said the boy sexually assaulted the girl and choked her before he ran away.
