Coeur d'Alene Police and the SWAT Team have called off the search for fugitive Douglas Standish on Tubbs Hill.

The search was called off as soon as nightfall hit.

Earlier in the afternoon, police shut down access to the hill so they could search for Standish. The department said it had received information that Standish may be hiding out somewhere on Tubbs Hill and were searching the area for him. They added the information on his whereabouts was not definitive but were checking the area out of an abundance of concern for public safety.

Trail heads were closed and residents were asked to stay out of the area during the search.

Standish, 49, of Bayview, is wanted on a felony warrant for a kidnapping that happened Monday.

Police said they may resume the search on Tubbs Hill for Standish on Wednesday.
