POST FALLS, Idaho -

The Spokane bomb squad responded to a suspicious package at the Post Falls Police Department Monday evening.

Officials say someone found the device along the road in Spokane county, then loaded it into their car and drove it to the police department to notify them around 5 p.m.

The building was evacuated and a two-block area cordoned off while the bomb squad moved in. They removed the device from a car and took it to a nearby field to render it safe.

The remnants of the device will be taken to a lab for identification.

Police say they do not consider the person who brought the device in to be a suspect. They will release a statement on Tuesday with more information on the investigation.
