WALLACE, Idaho -

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office is investigating a harassment incident from a person dressed as a "creepy clown."

The harassment came in the form of Facebook messages threatening stalking and violence.

These "creepy clown" sightings are sweeping the nation.

"These instances all involve fake Facebook pages belonging to people dressed or identifying themselves as clowns and making very disturbing threats involving stalking and violence," the sheriff's office wrote in a press release. "'Creepy' clowns have been arrested in many states this week, with many facing terrorism charges. A majority of these cases seem to be pranks that are taken too far."

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office said they are taking these reports seriously and will be investigating all reports of this activity.
