A gate recently put up on private land that blocks vehicle access to a 90-foot section of shoreline access to Black Lake in northern Idaho will say in place.
Kootenai County Commissioner Jai Nelson tells the Coeur d'Alene Press in a story on Friday that the county doesn't have a legal easement to the property that has the gate.
Some people complained after the gate went up because it blocked a private road that had been used by the public.
Nelson says walk-in and boat-in access remains.
But Nelson says walk-in access is more difficult because of the grade change between the public access road and lower area near the water.
She says commissioners have directed the Parks and Waterways department to look at making walk-in access easier.
