COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

Disbarred North Idaho attorney Edgar Steele will not get a new trial for trying to hire someone to kill his wife.

Steele said there were errors in his trial that warranted a new one, but the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected his claim.

Steele, who all but dared the judge to lock him up for life before he was sentenced, is serving 50 years in prison.

"At my age, 10 years in prison is a death sentence. It doesn't matter what they give me. Hell, give me a thousand years, judge. Put me in the Guinness Book of World Records, it doesn't matter to me," Steele said.

Cyndi Steele stood by her husband, even after a pipe bomb was found under her car.

Steele made a name for himself in the 1990's when he represented Aryan Nations founder Richard Butler.
