COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

The Couer d'Alene School District says it will now require additional background checks for applicants with a conditional teaching certificate following the arrest of one of its teachers for child rape.

That's the type of certificate Daniel Taylor held when he was hired in 2011. According to the district, as a condition of employment, he was supposed to complete an ethics class and undergo a fingerprint check by September 2012, neither of which he did.

Taylor remains is jail on a $50,000 bond.
