Multiple agencies are battling the Triumph Lane brush fire in north central Idaho near the town of Culdesac. The flames were reported just before 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The Idaho Department of Lands reports the fire first reported at five acres has now grown to over 600 acres in size, mostly burning brush and grass.
One trailer home and four outbuildings have been destroyed so far, and neighbors living in the immediate area are being evacuated as a precaution.
At least three engines and crew were battling the blaze from the ground, with an additional 20 two-person hand crews expected to arrive on Tuesday. A helicopter and air-tanker also battled the fire from the air with water and fire retardant.
Dry conditions and high-speed winds are making the fire difficult to predict and dangerous.
No word yet on when crews will have it contained.
