Teen who died in jail hanged himself

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed a Coeur d'Alene teen who died while in custody in the Nez Perce County Jail hanged himself.

Chad Gardner, 19, was arrested and taken into custody at the jail on a Kootenai County probation violation. He was being held in a single occupant cell when jail officers found him unconscious in his cell.

No foul play is suspected.
