ST. MARIES, Idaho -

Officials in Benewah County have released the names of the Coeur d'Alene couple who escaped serious injury in a weekend plane crash near St. Maries.

Sheriff Bob Kirts said Richard and Jennifer Whitehead were flying home from Lewiston Saturday when their Cessna began experiencing engine trouble. A wing clipped a tree as Richard Whitehead attempted to land in a pasture and the plane was flipped onto its top.

Richard Whitehead suffered minor injuries while Jennifer Whitehead was airlifted to a hospital as a precaution. Kirts said her injuries also appeared to be minor.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
