Friends of Luke Anana-Kuewa say he had a smile that could turn your day around and was always there for you if you needed a friend.
Anana-Kuewa, 18, was found dead in Spirit Lake over the weekend and people that knew him are mourning his sudden loss.
"I know he's in a better place. I hope that he's watching over all of us," Amanda Favalora said.
"He was the sweetest boy. He had his manners, he just said please and thank you. He was always there for a friend," she added.
Three days ago, Amanda got the call that rescue teams recovered her friend Luke's body, found partially submerged in the frigid waters of Spirit Lake.
"I was at a family gathering and my best friend called me saying the found a body in Spirit Lake and she told me it was probably Luke," Amanda said.
Luke was about to start life guard training at Silverwood next month. Now investigators are instead trying to figure out how he was found dead in SpiritLake.
Luke's friends say they've heard a lot about what happened. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department won't comment on their accounts since the investigation is ongoing.
One thing is clear; Luke Anana-Kuewa's friends wish he was still with them and that he will be sorely missed.
"I was shocked; I still am in shock. It hasn't quite hit me yet. It was very hard to take in. It still is," Favalora said.
