POST FALLS, Idaho -

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department responded Thursday night to reports of a suspicious device found lying in a neighborhood street.

The device was spotted in the 10900 block of Wyoming Street by a homeowner in the neighborhood around 7:30 p.m.

With the help of the bomb recognition team, deputies identified the device as three sticks of commercial-grade explosive, including a fuse and a blasting cap.

The Spokane County Explosives Disposal Unit took the device to a  nearby field, put them in a hole and blew them up.

Deputies do not know where the explosives came from.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department reminds the public to never handle anything they think may be an explosive, and to notify police immediately.
