Explosion rattles downtown Lewiston

An explosion involving a ruptured gas line hit downtown Lewiston early Monday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of several buildings in the area.
The explosion happened on 5th Street in the vicinity of the Downtown Lewiston Streetscape reconstruction project, Big Country News Connection is reporting. A backhoe working on the construction project hit a gas line.
The Lewiston Tribune building, near the site of the explosion, was evacuated.
No one was injured in the explosion or fire.
