Beck Road interchange on track for Black Friday opening
The new Beck Road interchange being built near Cabela's is on track to be finished in time for one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
The interchange is being built one mile east of the Stateline exit and will make it easier for drivers to access the NIC resaearch area and Cabela's on either side of the freeway.
"Probably save ten minutes coming from Coeur d'Alene, maybe five minutes coming from Spokane," Pete Marion with Cabela's said.
"They are going exceptionally fast, very tight timelines but they are hitting their marks," Jason Minzgor with the Idaho Transportation Department said.
For Cabela's they hope the interchange will bring more than just customers.
"We're really hopeful that it's going to bring in some more business, hotels, restaurants," Pete Marion said.
Some companies are interested but nothing has been finalized. Marketing will be ramped up soon for the area as crews move full steam ahead to finish the project.
"We've been waiting for this for a long time. We're just thrilled to death that it's going to finally come to fruition," Marion said.
The project will cost somewhere between $25 Million and $30 Million and will eventually be paid through sales tax revenue from the impacted area.
