Moses Lake PD drug bust finds Heroin and Meth

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - The Moses Lake Police Department made another huge drug and weapons bust after a two day investigation.

MLPD night shift officers ended a 20 hour shift on Monday after recovering over 11 lbs of heroin, six illegally possessed firearms and some steroids. Two Moses Lake men, 50-year-old Leo Dabalos and 34-year-old Andre Balderas, were booked into the Grant County Jail on a variety of drug and weapons charges.

Saturday morning, MLPD officers began an investigation into Dabalos and Balderas who were reportedly selling large quantities of heroin. By Monday morning, the case had progressed enough that officers were able to obtain and serve search warrants at two Moses Lake locations: A residence located in the 1400 block of Marina, and a converted business space at 110 W. Broadway.

Balderas, along with $3,800 cash and steroids were located on Marina. Dabalos, as well as the heroin and six firearms were recovered at the W. Broadway address. One of the firearms was an illegally modified short barrel shotgun.

Balderas was booked for delivery of heroin and possession of steroids. Dabalos was booked for delivery of heroin, possession of heroin and six counts of felon in possession of a firearm, as well as possession of a short barrel shotgun.

50 lbs. of heroin and methamphetamine have been taken off the streets inside the city limits of Moses Lake just this month. That represents a street value north of $1.5 million. While the recent busts have put a dent in the local heroin trade, MLPD has been assured that new shipments of heroin are on the way, although at a higher price and are ready to deal with them.
