Regal Plaza taking shape on Moran Prairie

SPOKANE, Wash. - After 10 years of discussions, Spokane's newest Target opens up on the South Hill in less than two months at the new Regal Plaza.

Construction is in full swing at the new Regal Plaza, where Target is scheduled to open at the end of July.

"I am pretty excited about it, i think my pocketbook may not be," South Hill resident Heather Van Akin said.

How excited is she about Target? She visited the retailer's north Spokane location twice Tuesday.

"Well I was on the north side so I went to that Target and then my girlfriend and I had a girl's night last night and went to the Target in the valley ... don't tell my husband," she said.

In addition to Target, PetSmart and Cafe Rio are also moving in to Regal Plaza. Developer Dave Black announced Wednesday that Anthony's will also be opening a restaurant in the new complex.

"It's the best tenant we could have hoped for, it gives the south side really, really good food," Black said.

Anthony's Beach Cafe will be built at the corner of Regal and Palouse Highway.

"I think it's going to be a great draw, you will be able to have a glass of wine and shop at Target, I think it's going to be fabulous," Black said.

Black said that Anthony's Beach Cafe will open toward the end of the summer and will have a sandlot for kids to play in along with outdoor seating by a fountain, create a festive, fun outdoor atmosphere.

He added he is working on securing a few more tenants as well, including possibly two more restaurants.

Target is scheduled to open July 27.
