Fresh Express is recalling some 10-ounce Hearts of Romaine salads due to a possible risk of Listeria monocytogenes.

This is a precautionary recall after a random sampling test by the Food and Drug Administration found a single package of lettuce tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to the company. No illnesses have been reported, and no other products are being recalled, the company said in a news release.

The recalled bags have already expired -- they have a use-by date of Aug. 23. Recalled bags feature a product code starting with G222 and a UPC code of 71279 26102 below the barcode, according to the company.

Affected packages may have been distributed to Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Consumers who have this product are urged to dispose of it. Consumers with questions may call the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center at 800-242-5472 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
