Male dies following altercation in...

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - At around 1:30 Sunday morning, Coeur d'Alene Police were called to the 300 block of N 4th street.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim, Jeffrey Marfice, with a significant head injury.

Marfice was transported to Kootenai Health where his condition deteriorated.

Medical staff took him into emergency surgery to try and relieve pressure on his brain.

The staff worked throughout the day and evening to stabilize Marfice's condition without success.

Marfice was pronounced deceased early Monday morning.

After further investigation of the incident, detectives found the suspect, Tyler Finlay, and several witnesses.

Finlay admitted he punched Marfice one time.

The blow caused him to fall to the ground where he hit the back of his head on the pavement.

Finlay was arrested for Aggravated Battery and taken to the Kootenai County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in court today facing a Manslaughter charge.
