What to buy: October

SPOKANE, Wash. - As October gets into full swing, many of you may be itching to get out and get some new fall fashion, or the perfect flat screen TV to watch the game.

With Black Friday coming up, you may be thinking you'll wait to make your big purchases then, but DealNews says the month of October can provide some great sales you should check out now.

If you're in need of a new car, for example, now is the time to look.

Dealerships are often eager to get rid of this year's inventory for newer models, meaning bigger savings for you.

Next week will likely be a big deal with Columbus Day sales. You can even try for extra savings, by buying at the end of the day, week, or month when salespeople want to hit quotas.

If you don't already have a Halloween costume, you're probably going to pay steep prices to get one now. But, if you want to get a jump on next year, retailers slash prices on costumes the day after Halloween.

October is National Pizza Month, and you can expect to find savings from big chains like Domino's, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut.

Finally, with the seasons changing, it's time to look ahead. All things gardening will see big discounts this month, like law mowers, leaf blowers, hoses, and more.

There are some items worth waiting until Black Friday for.

People are always in a rush to get the latest phone, but if you can wait, get the new iPhone 8 on Black Friday. Chain stores will attempt to undercut Apple's prices to get your business.

That goes for most things tech. Laptops and TV's traditionally hit their lowest prices on Black Friday. Finally, looking great comes at a price, especially if you want to shop in season. Fore the best fall and winter fashion, wait until Black Friday, when you can usually find great deals.
