SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley police are investigating an armed robbery at Poppy's Tavern late Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the tavern, located at 415 S Dishman Mica Rd., after the bar's manager reported that she was bound with zip ties and robbed by the suspect.
The woman is scared but is otherwise doing okay.
"She's upset as anybody would be; she's upset, she's shaken, she twisted her ankle a little bit when he pushed her down," Spokane Valley Police Sergeant Dave Martin said.Tavern robbery
This wasn't the first time the suspect had been to this bar, Martin added. The manager recalled seeing the suspect in the tavern Tuesday.
She told police the suspect, a white male between 35 and 40 years old, had a small semi automatic handgun, came in to the tavern, ordered a beer, then, while brandishing a small semi-automatic handgun, demanded money from her. He bound her, knocked her down, and stole an unknown amount of money.
He also took the two beer bottles he had been drinking at the bar before the robbery.
The woman said it took her about 10 minutes to free herself after the robbery suspect left.
The suspect was seen wearing dark blue jeans, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and a fishing style hat.
"Anybody that displays a handgun during a robbery, ties up the victim, absolutely they're considered armed and dangerous," Martin said.
