Suspected puppy thieves caught on camera

SPOKANE, Wash. - A local business is looking for two people who allegedly stole from their store. Employees at Northwest Seed and Pet on Sprague say a Chihuahua went missing Saturday afternoon around 2:45 p.m.

"It's very frustrating, I can't imagine why anybody would go out and just steal a puppy," Assistant Manager Judith Feeley said.

Feeley says the man and woman went into the pet room, picked up a puppy, and snuck around the corner.

Feeley said the girl looks like she adjusted her bag as they left. The dog was never returned.

Feeley also says it's become a disturbing trend in the store and the reason why they've upgraded their security system. She usually puts the photos of the thieves on the video screen in the store to see if anyone recognizes them. Sometimes it works.

"Usually it's family members that see those pictures and they call us and they call crime check and that's how we get them back," she said.

Feeley is hopeful you might recognize the people. She asks if you recognize them to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

"We'll be keeping our eyes wider open now in the pet room," Feeley said.
