SPD nabs domestic violence suspect

SPOKANE, Wash. - A domestic violence assault suspect is behind bars after a chase with Spokane Police officers on Friday morning.

Montreal L Morgan, 20, was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Assault-Domestic Violence, Felony Violation of a Domestic Violence Order of Protection, Attempt to Elude Police, and 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Just before 2:30 a.m. Friday, SPD officers responded to a report of a shooting at Bridgeport and Division. A woman claimed her ex-boyfriend, Morgan, fired a gun at her. She also reported that Morgan rammed her vehicle with his vehicle. The victim wasn't injured.

Officers arrived on scene and Morgan fled in his vehicle. There was a brief car chase, until Morgan got out of his car and started running.

Morgan was found near Hogan and Desmet just after 5 a.m. A gun was found in the vehicle he was driving.

There was a Domestic Violence Order of Protection order prohibiting Morgan from having any contact with the victim. That order also prohibited him from having a gun.
