Sheriff issues public safety warning for bank robbery suspect

SPOKANE, Wash. - 21507596

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office has issued a public safety alert after positively identifying the suspect in a Friday morning bank robbery as the same individual wanted for two similar robberies in the last week.

Scott Ruziecki, 41, has been identified by authorities as the suspect who robbed the Banner Bank branch Friday around 10 a.m. inside the Safeway at Mission and Hamilton.

He had previously been identified as the suspect in the robberies of a Banner Bank branch inside a Safeway in Hillyard on August 9 and the US Bank branch at Argonne and Trent on August 13.

Sheriff's investigators said they have learned Ruziecki is armed with a handgun and has made threats to shoot law enforcement officers if he is confronted.

As a result of this, Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich has issued a public safety warning. The sheriff said, because Ruziecki has made threats to shoot officers, residents are warned not to contact him but to contact 9-1-1 immediately if you see him.
