Residents enjoy Riverfront Park fireworks display

SPOKANE, Wash. - Hundreds gathered at Spokane's Riverfront Park Wednesday night to enjoy a bright, sunny day which all led up to the big Fourth of July fireworks display at 10 p.m.

The park opened up with vendors, a beer garden and has plenty of family-friendly events leading up to the grand finale fireworks show, 

People come out to the park to celebrate the Fourth of July for different reasons.

"It means the celebration of being in America, it's just lucky to be here and have what we have," Travid Bronoski said.

"Just hanging out and having fun for the fourth, enjoying the holiday," Crystal Slone said.

"(To) play Frisbee and drink," said T.H. Scott McDaniels-Rogers.

"This is where I sit every year [because of] the beer garden," Nicci McKenzie said with a laugh.

For Joseph and Kelli Cooper, it's a special Independence Day. They've been away from family for four years as Joseph served our country.

"The Fourth of July means a lot to me because I am Coast Guard; military, Definitely the independence of the country means a lot," Joseph said.

They're happy to be back with family, and they're starting a family of their own. Kelli is due in November with the couple's first child.
