SPOKANE, Wash. - Washington State Patrol is looking for the driver responsible for a hit and run crash along Highway 195 and Thorpe Wednesday night.
Just before 7 p.m., Sgt. Kris Schweigert with WSP says the driver of a white SUV tried to cross 195 and slammed into a Honda heading northbound.
The driver of the SUV quickly left the scene before WSP arrived.Police looking for hit and run suspect
"With that kind of damage, there is no way you are not going to realize that," Sgt. Schweigert said. "He rolled up on the opposing shoulder and actually had to back his way out through a couple of poles. No way that driver didn't know what happened," he added.
Sgt. Schweigert believes the suspects car sustained a lot of damage based on all the pieces left behind.
"If necessary those pieces sometimes, often, are used to track down vehicles like that. We all watch tv, shows like CSI and what not, there are ways to track down that information," he said.
If you have any information about the crash or notice an SUV with significant damage to the windshield and passenger side call 911.
"It's terrible. Anytime you are involved in an crash you are bound by law, if nothing else and stop and exchange information with the other driver. I'll let people make their own ethical and moral decisions about that other driver, any hit and run driver, but obviously it's something people shouldn't do," Sgt. Schweigert said.
