Police arrest suspect after Papa Murphy's robbery

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane police have one person is in custody after a masked robber held up a Papa Murphy's pizza shop on Ash and Rowan around 7 p.m. Tuesday. 

According to police, the suspect walked up to the counter wearing a mask and politely demanded money from the cashier before walking out of the store and leaving in a vehicle .

A second man about to enter the store noticed the masked suspect and called police. He attempted to follow the suspect in his vehicle, but lost him after several blocks. 

A few minutes later police received a report of a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's near Dalton and Nettleton. They arrived on scene and detained the driver for several hours before booking him into the Spokane County Jail for first-degree robbery. 

The robber reportedly left the store with less than $100 in cash. Police did not recover the money from the suspect's vehicle and as of early Wednesday morning were waiting on a search warrant to enter the suspect's home.
