New restaurants heat up downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Grand Hotel Spokane is slowly rising where a parking lot once stood and a proposed 60 million dollar renovation of Riverfront Park will soon be on the ballot, but there's also dozens of new restaurants dotting downtown.

"I think it's great. It's really nice to see a lot of these nice places coming back," says Josh Blair.

Blair is opening 24 Taps, a sports bar, tap room combo in the old Heroes and Legends space.

"We're really going to focus on that Spokane style beer. Bringing in No-Li, a lot of local beers so it's really great to have those good local brews to bring in," says Blair.

Just south of 24 Taps, Burger Lab will grace the old Agave Latin Bistro, and across the river, Veraci Pizza is moving into Kendall Yards.

"It's the new up and coming Place in Spokane," says Veraci owner Seth Carey.

Seth and his wife Laura started Veraci three years ago as a food truck and due to demand, decided to open a full restaurant. They feature a Neapolitan style, thin crust pizza and an oven that takes just 90 seconds to cook the pies.

"The longest part is making them and then once their in their out almost immediately," says Laura.

The only thing more impressive than the oven might be the view.

"It's one of the best patios in Spokane in my opinion," says Laura.

Veraci is looking to open next week while 24 Taps is aiming for mid-August.
