SPOKANE, Wash. - My Fresh Basket filled Kendall Yard's need of a neighborhood market.
Their soft open was just a few weeks ago. But they plan to offer even more for the community starting Friday as the store celebrates its grand opening.
They have a little bit of everything, including some stuff you may not see anywhere else. For the grand opening Friday morning, My Fresh Basket brought in a 20 pound octopus.
A big part of making any downtown more liveable is making it convenient for people to get what they need without having to drive far.
Even better, if they can walk from their apartment or townhouse to grab something for dinner.
That's what My Fresh Basket is hoping to bring to Kendall Yards.
You could argue it's technically not in the downtown core, but it's certainly one of a very small number of grocery stores anywhere close.
Owner Ramona Higashi says, since the soft open back in June, she's heard great things from her customers.
“We hear that people are really excited to have something in their neighborhood that is close. Also people enjoy being able to walk to their store and grab what they need for the day,” said Higashi. “And meet and gather off the Centennial Trail and so we are just hearing a lot of good reviews.”
Now that the store is completely open, they've added more lounge seating upstairs and a space where they'll teach cooking classes and host other events.
They'll celebrate their grand opening through the weekend with special deals on several items and some giveaways Friday evening.
