SPOKANE, Wash. - With the Gonzaga men's basketball team heading to the NCAA tournament next week, fans are scrambling to score the latest gear to support the team.
On Saturday, employees at the Zag Shop in Kennedy Apartments stayed busy all day ringing up t-shirts, sweatshirts and other zag swag.
"Gonzaga fans are always very proud to begin with so they are going to support their team and their team colors," Brendan Mack, Asst. Store Manager said.Fans scrambling to get Zag gear
"The number one ranking has certainly boosted excitement, boosted sales and just created a buzz that hasn't stopped so far," he added.
With several shirts draping over her arms, Linda Hinckley shopped for her kids and grand kids. Hinckley said she planned to buy at least a dozen t-shirts to send to family across the country and world.
"I just want to spoil them," she said.
And, her one of her grandson's, Tyler Criddle, doesn't mind one bit.
Criddle, picked out a Gonzaga sweatshirt in his favorite color, red. Criddle said he's been a fan for as long as he can remember.
"I'm huge [fan] because my dad has loved the zags like forever, my mom has, all my brothers and siblings have," Tyler Criddle said.
Criddle hoped to see his favorite player on campus while shopping.
"I was hoping to see Kelly Olynyk, because I always look after him, like in basketball, to do my best," he said
Criddle is confident he'll watch the zags make history this year, by making it to the championship game.
"I think they are going to do pretty good," he added
Mack said the Zag Shop will be getting in new shirts as the zags make their way through the tournament. He said they had a few top secret shirts they will be revealing soon as well.
