Dozens camp out downtown for new iPhone

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane iPhone release

Hundreds of iPhone fans lined up early Friday morning in downtown Spokane to be the first in the city to get their hands on the new iPhone 5S.

Spokane's Apple store was flooded when they opened the doors at 8 a.m. In fact, some people showed up late Wednesday night to be the first in line to get Apple's latest iPhone.

"I have been here since yesterday at 4 p.m.," Miles Pfaff said.

They anticipate bugs, and waiting in line is a pain, but for some of them this has become somewhat of a tradition.

"I got here at seven last night, kind of last night and decided if I wanted to get the phone I had to get here and it got down to 42 last night so it was cold," Steve Porter said.

Cold or not, the faithful, die hard Apple fans lined Main Street waiting for the next big release, with many of them standing in line in the same place when the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S were released and will probably be back when the next iPhone or iPad are released.

For these Apple fans, this was their equivalent of the Rose Bowl, Super Bowl Sunday or Black Friday.

"For sure I have done it in Seattle and this is my first time in Spokane and its kind of its own thing," Porter said.

"I just wanted to come out and hang out," Pfaff said. "I had fun doing it last year and I could have stayed at home and gotten the phone in a couple of weeks or I could come out here and hang out and its kind of an adventure and kind of fun."
