Detectives investigate body found under tarp on Deer Park property

DEER PARK, Washington - Spokane Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a body under a tarp outside of a home in Deer Park.

The body was found in the 200 block of Meadowmere Road just after 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say someone called 911 to report what appeared to be a deceased man under the tarp outside the home. When deputies arrived, they confirmed there was a dead man at the home.

Deputies shut down access to Meadowmere and set up a crime scene.

Two people at the crime scene Wednesday evening told KXLY 4 News they feared the body was their father.

They said he had just moved into the home with a girlfriend and went missing seven days ago. They lived in Coeur d'Alene, but drove to Deer Park hoping to get answers about their father's wherabouts, and instead stumbled on a crime scene.

Deputies say this is a death investigation and have not begun to speculate about how the man died. They also have not confirmed who lived at the home or who made the call to 911.
