SPOKANE, Wash. - The Mobius Science Center has a cool new home downtown as Avista Utilities announced Friday it will be leasing the Post Street Annex of the Washington Water Power building to the science center.
When you're looking for a new home, it's all about location, location, location and, of course, price, and with Mobius' mission to engage kids in science technology engineering and math, they couldn't have asked for a better location or a better price.
For the past month, Mobius has made due with a temporary arrangement at the Spokane Public Library downtown, and they're happy to be there, but a lot of the big attractions that get kids in the door just don't fit. Their new home is the Post Street Annex of the Washington Water Power building, after signing a lease with Avista Thursday.
Friday morning that partnership proudly showed the public all they have planned and its more than a rental agreement.
"Our focus as a corporation, we wanted to create an opportunity for Mobius to be able to focus on their mission, to be able to provide science education and a science experience for as many people as possible, and that's why we decided that we wanted to lease this building to Mobius for a dollar a year," Avista CEO Scott Morris said, adding the possibilities for collaboration are endless.
Mobius plans to have the new science center up and running later this fall.
