Spokane officer placed on leave

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police said an officer was placed on administrative leave after an incident early Thursday morning.  

It all started just after midnight, when Spokane Police received a report of a possible abduction in the area of 1000 E. Courtland.   Witnesses told police multiple suspects entered the home, forcibly removed a female, then drove away with her. 

About an hour later, police said one of the suspects and the victim showed up to an officer’s house. The suspect, is a family member of the officer. Police said the officer recognized the victim was injured and took her to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries then contacted a police supervisor.

Two suspects have been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233.

Police said once the criminal investigation has concluded an Internal Affairs investigation will take place to determine if any policy or procedure violations occurred.  The Sheriff's office will release any further information about the criminal investigation.

Chief Meidl will hold a press conference on Friday regarding the incident.
