President Trump signs disaster declaration for 8 Idaho counties

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - President Trump signed a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Kootenai County and seven other northern and north-central Idaho counties on Thursday.

The declaration incident period is March 6, 2016 through March 28, 2016, and induces the release of federal funds to help communities recover from the flooding, landslide, and mudslide damages that happened during that time.

"The Federal funding being issued will be utilized to repair disaster-damaged public infrastructures", said Kootenai County Commissioner Chris Fillios. "This funding can also be utilized for mitigation efforts to prevent or reduce long-term risk to life and property within the eight counties."
