Hamilton, MT - The Montana Board of Medical Examiners has suspended the medical license of a Florence physician whose clinic was raided last week by federal agents who were investigating his prescription-writing practices.
The Ravalli Republic reports a board investigation found Dr. Chris Christensen prescribed excess pills in dangerous combinations, leading to the overdose death of two patients. No criminal charges have been filed.
The board's investigator found Christensen prescribed one chronic pain patient 67 methadone tablets per day for a period of just over four months, and prescribed that same patient an average of 45 tablets per day over a 14-month period of time.
The investigation into Christensen began when some of his patients filed a complaint against a pharmacist who refused to fill prescriptions issued by Christensen.
Christensen has 20 days to appeal his suspension.
