MIssoula, MT - Missoula County deputies have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of negligent endangerment after officers say he jumped off a bridge into the Clark Fork River and landed on a man, knocking him unconscious.
KECI-TV reports Charles David Ament was booked into the Missoula County jail at around 8:15 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of misdemeanor negligent endangerment.
Officers say the impact knocked out a 27-year-old man, who had just jumped off the bridge himself. The man was treated at the hospital for a large cut on his head.
Jail records indicate Ament is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
Last year, a similar accident on the same bridge left a man with two broken legs. The jumper was convicted of negligent endangerment and ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution.
