ROY, Wash. - Emergency crews have recovered the body of a feed mill worker who had been buried under tons of spilled corn at a collapsed grain silo in Roy, Wash.
South Pierce Fire Chief Bob Vellias said the body of 44-year-old Steve Green was recovered late Wednesday night. The chief says Green's wife, three daughters and son were present when his body was found.
Vellias estimates that two eight-person crews vacuumed up more than 400 of the 500 tons of corn before the man was found. The silo collapsed Monday.
A giant metal mesh screen attached to an excavator was brought in Wednesday to stabilize the damaged area at the Wilcox Farms feed mill.
The grain silos mix chicken feed for the company that produces eggs sold throughout the Northwest.
