Body found outside Sacred Heart identified

SPOKANE, Wash. - UPDATE: The man has been identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Tellez, who died due to injuries consistent with blunt impact. The manner of death is being investigated.

Spokane major crimes detectives are investigating a body found in a Sacred Heart parking garage.

Police say they are in the early stages of the investigation, and they don't yet know how the man died.

Spokane Police say a passerby called 911 about the body.

The man hasn't been identified yet, and police are still working to determine the cause of death.

Major crimes detectives were on scene investigating Tuesday evening, which Spokane Police say is typical of death investigations.

Police say it didn't take long for the body to be discovered because of the busy location.

"It's a pretty highly traveled area as you can imagine," said Senior Officer Wayne Downing. "It probably happened pretty quick. Like I said, it was a shift change so I'm sure there was a lot of movement in and out of the structure, so the time is probably pretty limited."

Initially, the parking garage was closed to people going in and out, but police began letting people out of the structure around 7 p.m.
