BURLINGTON, Wash. --- Washington State Patrol confirms that five people are dead after a shooting at a Seattle-area mall.
The shooting occurred at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington which is about an hour north of Seattle.
Washington State Patrol says just before 7:00pm on Friday, at least one shooter entered the mall and shot five people inside Macy's.
Three women died at the scene. Another woman and a man died later from their injuries.
Sgt. Mark Francis says police believe there is only one shooter. Surveillance footage shows him entering the mall without a weapon, and later entering Macy's with a rifle. The weapon was found at the scene.
The man they are looking for has dark hair and was wearing black. He was last seen walking from to mall towards Interstate 5.
Shoppers in the mall were evacuated and taken to a church nearby called "His Place" where they were questioned by police.
The shooter's motive is unknown, but the Seattle FBI said there is currently no evidence pointing to terrorism.
Nearby roads, businesses and restaurants were put on lock-down next to Cascade Mall.
"We don't need you here milling about. Stay in your house, stay secure," Francis said. "If you see something suspicious, say something, but definitely we need to investigate this as thoroughly as we can," he said.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police.
