Officer involved shooting closes I-90

POST FALLS, Idaho - One suspect is in the hospital following an officer involved shooting on Interstate 90 near Post Falls early Sunday morning.

At about 2 am, officers and deputies from the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Idaho State Police and the Post Falls Police Department were involved in the shooting near milepost 5.

The Critical Incident Task Force has been activated for the investigation. Additionally, because of the four agencies involved, the Bonner County Sheriff's Office and the Rathdrum Police Department have also been requested to assist. The Bonner County Sheriff's Office will be overseeing the investigation.

The lone suspect involved in this case was transported to Kootenai Haealth and is listed in critical condition.

Currently the westbound lanes of I-90 from Highway 41 to Spokane Street will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. Travelers will need to use alternate routes.

Information regarding the investigation will be handled by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
