KELLOGG, Idaho - Shoshone County Sheriff's investigators said the man who died in a fall from the Silver Mountain gondola Saturday had been warned several times to get back inside the car.
Someone called 911 shortly after 8:30 Saturday night, saying a man fell from the gondola. Silver Mountain personnel and sheriff's deputies found the 26-year old man, who had suffered extensive injuries.
He was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after 9:30 pm.
Due to the steep, rocky terrain, the man's body was not recovered until Sunday morning.
The sheriff's office said the man had apparently climbed out a small window on the gondola car, despite warnings from his companion to get back inside. He fell 85 feet to the rock and brush-covered hillside below.
The man's name has not been released and the investigation into his death is ongoing.
