POST FALLS, Idaho - A driver is in serious condition at Kootenai Medical Center after a train hit a car near Post Falls Wednesday morning.
The train hit the car around 8 a.m. at Grange Road, pushing the car down to Chase Road before coming to a stop.
There were lights at the crossing where the car was hit, but there was not a railroad crossing arm.
The driver was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, where he is in serious condition. Authorities have not been able to identify him yet as he did not have any identification on him.
Police are investigating the crash and trying to determine if the car was stopped on the train tracks or if the driver was trying to beat the train across the tracks when he was hit.
