Moses Lake police seize 7.7 pounds of drugs from car

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Moses Lake police seized 7.7 pounds of methamphetamine and heroin Thursday after a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Broadway.

Early Thursday morning, an officer pulled over 27-year-old Jose Miranda Jimenez, of Quincy for a traffic violation. Miranda Jimenez was uncooperative and the officer saw drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. At first, Miranda Jimenez refused to get out of the car, but was eventually taken into custody.

The officer found 2.7 ounces of heroin stuffed inside a condom. After obtaining a search warrant, officers found a large amount of drugs inside the vehicle, packaged for sale. A total of more than 3 pounds of methamphetamine and 4.7 pounds of heroin, also stuffed into condoms, were found.

Officers also found scales, packaging materials, and receipts from a large international money transfer. Miranda Jimenez was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of possession of heroin and obstructing a law enforcement officer. He will also face federal immigration charges.

The case will be forwarded to the Drug Enforcement Agency for consideration of federal drug charges.
