Man with ax, gun robs Walmart

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - According to Spokane Valley police, a man smashed an electronics display case at a Walmart with an ax or hatchet. He then put multiple electronics in his backpack. When the robber was confronted by employees, he pulled out a gun and a threatened them.

The robbery happened around 4 a.m. Thursday at the Walmart on the 5000 block of East Sprague Avenue.

As the man tried to leave the store, he was threatening employees with an ax or hatchet and a revolver.

The robber is described as a black man in his early 20s, standing about 5 foot 10 inches tall. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black gloves and was carrying a brown backpack.

Police said the man ran out the store and jumped into a waiting car. It sped off, heading eastbound on Sprague Avenue.
