SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A man was arrested in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings in Spokane Valley Wednesday night after he shot his friend in the hand during an argument.
Deputies responded to a reported shooting in the parking lot of the business located at 14702 E. Indiana around 11:30 p.m. Both the victim and the suspect had made separate calls to police, and were still on scene.
Deputies identified 42-year-old Chad A. Dobson as the suspect. Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene, and determined that Dobson and the victim are friends and had agreed to meet at the Buffalo Wild Wings. Dobson was upset with the victim's treatment of the victim's soon to be ex-wife during the divorce.
A mutual friend who had given the victim a ride waited in his car while the victim met Dobson inside the bar of the restaurant. They began arguing and were asked to leave. In the parking lot, Dobson saw the friend waiting in the car and got angry, threatening both the victim and the friend in the car.
During the argument, Dobson pulled out a gun and hit the mutual friend in the head multiple times with the butt of the gun, demanding that he leave, which the friend did.
Dobson then pointed the gun at the victim, who raised his hand to block the gun. Dobson shot the victim in the hand. Each then called 911.
Dobson was booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of Assault 1st Degree with a firearm. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The mutual friend also received medical attention for his minor injuries.
