Bloomsday looking for more volunteers

Bloomsday looking for more volunteers

SPOKANE, Wash. - Bloomsday, one of the biggest annual events in Spokane, is in need of more volunteers this year.

"You know, we have a lot of volunteers already," explained Race Director Don Kardong."But we do need volunteers for t-shirt distribution and one of our water aid stations, and then we'll be looking for a couple of volunteers for our Marmot March on Saturday."

With 12 days to go until race day, Kardong is just shy of the normal 5,000 volunteers he has signed up for the weekend's festivities. A problem not terribly alarming, but one out of the ordinary considering once he has a Bloomsday volunteer, it seems he has one for life.

"Most of our volunteers come back year after year, so most of the time we have our positions filled by now."
